What Are The Symptoms of Sinus Infection?

Sinus infections are very common among both children and adults. There is a good chance that you or your child may be experiencing a sinus infection if you are having nasal problems with regularity. This is especially true if the symptoms that you have been experiencing resemble those of the common cold or the flu. Here are some of the main symptoms of sinus infection.

Symptoms of Sinus Infection

There are two very common symptoms of sinus infection. The first is a sore or itchy throat, which often causes coughing. The second main symptom is sinus drainage, which can range in color from clear to green. At times, sinus drainage may even be bloody. Sinus drainage is generally released when blowing the nose and it is likely that it also may drip to the back of the throat. When this occurs, it is called post nasal drip. With a sinus infection, you are also likely to experience blocked sinus passages. It will probably feel difficult to breathe, especially when you are not laying in an elevated position. Pain or pressure in the area of your eyes or forehead is another one of the main symptoms associated with sinus infections.

Other Symptoms of Sinus Infections

There are other symptoms of sinus infections, which may be caused by other illnesses but are often linked to sinus infections. Nausea is another common symptom of sinus infections, which is generally caused by any sinus drainage that you may have swallowed. Ear infections are also commonly associated with sinus infections. Fatigue, bad breath, fever, and unusual changes in your sense of smell or taste are also symptoms which may be caused by a sinus infection. It is important to remember that while these symptoms of sinus infections are somewhat common, not everyone with a sinus infection goes through them.

It is very common for sinus infections to go away in their own time. Drink lots of fluids, be sure to rest, and try to avoid any stressful situations during the time of a sinus infection. If any of these symptoms are very severe or last more than a few days, it is a good idea to visit your primary care physician. He or she is likely to prescribe you with antibiotics to take care of the sinus infection.

Be sure to keep in mind that if symptoms occur on a frequent basis and even after you have received treatment from a doctor, there is a strong possibility that you may be suffering from chronic sinusitis. In this case, you may need to continue taking antibiotics for about twenty days, but it is a good idea to find out what your doctor says if you have chronic sinusitis.

I know a lot of people think that allergies are only from airborne agents but don’t forget about food allergies. Food allergies can have a lasting effect on you. For example, if you were to eat a burrito and always felt terrible for a few days after, would you know what is causing you to feel the way you do.

One test that is very scientifically based and proven to have results is the ALCAT blood food allergy test. It finds out thing about your food intolerances that you would never think you had. I actually am intolerant to cranberries… who would have though? The studies show it is about 96% correct as well.

I would recommend anyone who is having abdominal pain, bowel problems, headaches, allergies and chronic nose issues to give this test a try!

You even can drop a bunch of weight the first week or so when you go on the diet because of the decrease in inflammation and swelling in the body!
