Here are a few tips on how to have a long life:

1. They have good genetics.

Our genes come from our parents. We can never choose who are parents will be so we really don’t have control over our genes. So if your mother is a diabetic, your genes predispose you to have diabetes too. This means you are at risk. The good news is although our genes may predispose us to such condition; it’s our lifestyle that pulls the trigger. We still have control to prevent it. There are however individuals who are blessed with good genetics and really predispose them to long life.

To have a long life, watch your diet. Saturated fat in the western diet is associated with increased risk of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. In fact atherosclerosis is a fatty build up in the arteries that can affect the arteries that supply the brain as well as the heart causing strokes and heart problems. There are so many foods to avoid like food in high in trans-fatty acids. Eat right consult a nutritionist which foods are good for you.

3. They don’t smoke.

Cigarette smoking is an excellent way of guaranteeing a short life. Studies show direct relation of smoking abuses our body. It causes constriction of blood vessels which affect blood circulation and later affect the cardiovascular system. It affects the respiratory system causing illnesses like asthma, emphysema, and bronchitis. It also affects the reproductive system causing infertility problems, congenital abnormalities, as well the integrity of the uterus casing spina bifida. It affects the endocrine system by interrupting the normal hormonal system causing many cancers. If you want long life, don’t smoke.

4. They supplement.

The quality of our food today is not the same as it was 30 years ago. Today we eat processed food and quick fix meals which lack the necessary nutrients and minerals that are bodies need to have optimal health. It’s one of the reasons why urban folks have a shorter life span than rural folks. It’s because the eat more of the right food. We need to supplement are eating with the right type of supplements which are natural and organic not synthetic. We need supplements rich in antioxidants to counteract free radicals abuse. To have a long life, help your body meets its nutritional needs so it can perform at peek efficiency.

5. They sleep right.

Sleeping is process by which our bodies can rest and repair itself. It plays an important role in maintaining balance in our system. Adequate sleeping doesn’t overload the body of its limits causing it to work smoothly and in synchronization.

6. They exercise regularly.

Regular cardiovascular workout increases the cardiac output of the heart as well the lungs. It also gives good tone to the muscles.

7. They have positive mental attitude.

Stress can alter and shorten our life. Some people develop psychological problems and emotional baggage that affect their liver. Positive mental toughness, goals and gratitude of what you have right now produces the right chemicals which are good for you. Think positive to stay positive so you will act and react positive too.
