Say “No” To Ecstasy

For many years, people have been taking Ecstasy to the level we can call addictive. Since the early 80’s this drug have been hitting the clubs and they are all sold like pancakes. Even thought the government has been trying to curb the use of this drug for many years since its inception, we can’t really say that the clubs don’t have these now. There are hundreds of underground and exclusive clubs away from the prying eyes of th public where anything can be done. Sale of Ecstasy is just natural along with other dangerous drugs.

Yes, we acknowledge that Ecstasy is really bad for individual’s health and it can cause death, but how? Of course there are scientific explanations for the hazard, and practical information is also available for us to understand why it is so dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.

Scientifically, Ecstasy is called MDMA or 3,4 methylenedioxymethamphetamine. Quite a long name with numbers, but on the street Ecstasy is also called, X, E, XTC, Adam or Love Drug. When someone takes ecstasy, the drug will naturally target the serotonin in our brains. When taken, Ecstasy will increase the level of this organic substance from our brain. Serotonin is assigned to our emotions and raw feelings. With Ecstasy, everything seems to be highlighted. This drug will make you feel really open to everything and there’s no stopping what you can do. Sexual feeling is also highlighted and you’ll enjoy sex even more. Life couldn’t be better, temporarily with this wonderful drug. Even though this could be less addictive compared to smoking and drinking, apparently there are so many people hooked up with this drug because of the feelings and emotions it will muster on your body.

Going beyond the good effects, there are known side effects of this drug, which is why it’s being banned by the government. There are scientific explanations to these but essentially the side effects on the body includes muscle cramps, dehydration, high blood pressure, kidney failure and heart failure. And these are only some of the things that you’ll experience. But the most immediate effect of Ecstasy is hyperthermia, no it’s not hypothermia where you’ll experience decrease in body temperature. With hyperthermia, the body heat increases to a really dangerous level. That’s just with one pill. If you’ve taken too many, you’ll find yourself sweating profusely and you badly need water if you want to stay alive. There are clubs that close their water lines to force their patrons to buy bottled water at a higher price. If they don’t buy water to compensate with the heat, they’ll just find themselves heating up to death. And since it’s a club, alcohol is freely distributed and this will even increase the heat faster.

So when offered with Ecstasy, just say no. It’s a little bit cliché but this little bit will save your life. If ever you find yourself taking one, stop after the first pill. You know you can stop it and kicking it is easier than kicking the habit of smoking or alcohol. Drinks lots and lots of water to save your life.

Utterly disgusting article. Factually incorrect, and completely ridiculous. The final line:

“Drinks lots and lots of water to save your life.” is extremely dangerous advice. Most people who die on ecstasy, die because they “drink lots and lots of water”. This effectively results in the brain being “flooded” with water, and you drowning yourself. So please do not take the authors advice.

If you are going to take ecstasy, take lots of breaks from dancing, and sip about a bottle of water an hour.

Also, the “just say no” approach will blatantly never work. It is about harm reduction, not demonisation and prevention…

peace :)
