Multiple Sclerosis Signs And Symptoms

Multiple Sclerosis, commonly called MS, is when your central nervous system interferes with the sending of nerve signals to the brain or spinal cord. Sometimes it is also a problem with other parts of the body, and this disruption can produce some pretty dibilitating symptoms. Multiple Sclerosis is not a health issue that is predicatable as far as symptoms are concerned. One person may experience certain symptoms that others may not. It depends on the amount of damage to the myelin, and the general health of the person involved.

Multiple Sclerosis will commonly cause fatigue as a primary symptom. Fatigue is probably the most common Multiple Sclerosis symptom mainly because it is such a wear on the sufferer. The symptoms often are hard to pin down, and fatigue is often the result of the body dealing with the various things going on.

Another very common symptom of Multiple Sclerosis is pain in the extremities, back, neck, chest, and torso. The pain can manifest itself pretty much anywhere as the nerves in our bodies travel all over. The pain is sometimes considered sharp and sometimes stinging.

Other common symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis include numbness in the limbs, problems with balance and coordination, walking problems, bladder or bowel dysfunction, dizziness, vertigo, eyesight issues, erectile dysfunction, emotional problems, and a general feeling of being sick.

While these are the most common Multiple Sclerosis symptoms, they are far from the only ones. Multiple Sclerosis patients may also experience problems swallowing, headaches, problems hearing, seizures, tremors, itching, and even trouble swallowing. While these Multiple Sclerosis symptoms are not nearly as common as the others mentioned above, they are still considered potential problems for someone with Multiple Sclerosis.

One often overlooked symptom of Multiple Sclerosis is depression. This is a very common part of the battle with Multiple Sclerosis simply because the problem is so persistant. The pain and the irritation of Multiple Sclerosis can certainly lead someone to be depressed and sometimes they need to go on medication to help with this symptom. If you have Multiple Sclerosis and are depressed, then talk with your doctor about possible solutions right away.
