Diuretics remove excess fluid by increasing the rate of urine produced to prevent signs of fluid overload. How is this information useful?
Well if you have hypertension, which means you have a high blood pressure, lemons can help you lower down your pressure reading by promoting urine voiding decreasing the risk for stroke and heart attack.

Vitamin C provides many benefits. Lemons are a great source of vitamin C. If we include this fruit regularly in our diet, there so many plus factors that are advantageous to our health namely:
- Wound healing: It promotes wound healing through collagen formation. Taking vitamin C is good if you have cuts, wounds and burns. Your cuts will heal faster!
- Enhances the immune system: Vitamin C has the ability to enhance the immune system of our bodies against the common cold. The enhancing affect of Vitamin C has been fairly well established and has shown to improve and increase macrophages which are our body’s first line of defense against bacterial infections.
- A source of antioxidants: An antioxidant is a substance that has the ability to give up an electron to a free radical and balance out the unpaired electron, which neutralizes the free radical. Most antioxidants we get are from vegetables and fruits like lemons. Vitamin C is water soluble and is therefore the best antioxidant to target free radicals within the blood stream and plasma.

Many manufacturers today produce several products with lemon scent into it. You have disinfectants, sanitizers, shampoos, laundry powder, air fresheners, liquid detergents, and balms, even candies and juices. Want to know the rational behind it? Studies have shown that lemon scent has a mood lifting effect. It is a great remedy for mood swings caused by depression and even for the menopausal. No wonder manufacturers use it a lot. 4. Lemons have antiseptic effects
Because of its citrus properties, lemons have been found to be a good method of cleaning and disinfecting small wounds and cuts. The citrus is a powerful antioxidant as well as an acid that kills microbic pathogens that are present on our skin. It may sting a little bit but that actually is good for you.
