Aromatherapy is a known alternative cure for some medical problems. It uses an essential oil that produces those wonderful scents. It’s a very convenient alternative medicine since it doesn’t need any massage or intrusive medicines, but just a smell of these oils triggering a medicinal effect.
Aromatherapy started with the accidental discovery of Rene Maurice Gattefosse, a French chemist. The chemist specialized in collecting oils and determining the effects to the person’s body. Even though he has mastered it, he never got it going until the accident that involved the burning of the skin. He placed the burnt skin in the vat of lavender oil, while trying to save the burned skin. The effect is almost instantaneous and from there, the science of aromatherapy started.

There are many types of aromatherapy. Contrary to popular beliefs, aromatherapy is not only about inhaling the smell of essential oils. Aromatherapy also deals with the application to various parts of the body. In fact, the first use of aromatherapy deals with the application of essential oils to the skin. But the general notion is the application of essential oils either through the use of aroma or through the direct application to the affected area. These areas are now the branches of aromatherapy but still looks up to the original use of the essential oil.
In the current market, there are many types of aromatherapy that can be used instantly. The most popular one so far is the classic oil burner. With a very small teacup on top of a burner, users place small drops of essential oils to burn and trigger the smell around the area. There are oils being sold for this very purpose and there are even recipes available online to tell which one will work in a particular condition. Bathing with oils is also popular in the market today. Just a few drops to the bathtub will work wonders to the tired body. Perfumes and oils are even infused in candles. Instead of using oils and burner, you can just buy aromatic candles and light them. As the candles are burned, the aroma will fill the room with its smell. Before you buy them you can smell the candles and see if the smell is exactly what you are looking for. If you think burning something is not your preference, there are now sprays that offer the same smell and effect.
The prices for these therapeutic smells are different. The price largely depends on the originating country and the type of trees or plants where the oil is extracted. The more organic, the more expensive the oil will get.
Aromatherapy is also recommended as a preventive measure for various diseases. It’s basically an oil to soothe one’s body of all the stress from the days work. It could work on some of the minor injuries. Iif you are considering it for a major medical condition, always ask your doctor before you do it. Aromatherapy is a safe practice, but it always helps to ask the professional before going into that practice.
