Different Sleeping Positions - What Is The Best Position For You?

Sleeping is one of the “must haves” in our life to energize us during the day. Naturally we do it at night, while some of us do it in the morning because of work related conditions. The number of hours of sleep differs from one person to another, and it’s often believed that as we grow older, our need to sleep becomes less but we still need sleep nonetheless.

There are different sleeping positions you can consider if there is something ailing in you. Though it will not give the immediate effects that you are looking for, it also helps in that even in your sleep you take care of yourself. Basically four different positions of sleeping are available: On your back, abdomen, and sleeping on the right or left side. Each of these positions have effects on your body if you use them constantly.

Sleeping sideways is the most common sleeping position. This kind of sleeping is adapted by millions worldwide, and it puts them to sleep in no time. When you do this position make sure you sleep with a straight back even if you move your feet closer to your body. You can also have a pillow between your legs to relieve the discomfort on your legs. Try to avoid sleeping on your left side as much as possible. Doing so will put stress on most of your internal organs such as your liver and lungs. Sleeping on your right will not only make you comfortable, but it will also help you in overcoming those hip and spinal concerns.

Sleeping on your back may not be your favorite sleeping position, but it still work wonders for your body. Sleeping in a straight position on your back will give your internal organs more space to breath. Since your body is in a sleeping state, the organs will have more time to “breathe” and when you wake up, you’ll feel better. It’s also recommended to have a pillow under your knee to maintain the natural curve of your body. This position is ideal for those who are suffering from pain in their lower back.

Sleeping on your tummy is not really a famous position. There are people who love to sleep in this position, but there are experts who advise against it. The experts may be right in saying this sleeping position is bad since it will place pressure on your body, especially on your internal organs. When you sleep on your stomach, the internal organs will not have the pleasure of breathing or expanding since your ribcage is trapped and you are placing pressure on it. However, there are those persons with specific conditions that require them to sleep in this position. This sleeping position is also recommended for those who have disc diseases.

These are available sleeping positions and each of them has their own pros and cons. You have to decide which one is perfect for you so that you can follow it and have peaceful and healthy rest.
