So the PlayStation 3 is finally here. After much hype and fanfare, people could finally get their hands on it. Sony proudly claims that it will revolutionize the way we play video games. Furthermore, Sony PS3 is not just a game console; it is also a very high tech media center. It has a Blu-Ray disc player and a digital photo album. On top of this, it is also backward compatible, which means that you can play your DVDs.

PlayStation 3 was launched in the United States in November 2006. In Japan and US, it was made available with two different hard-drive options. The 20GB model is priced around $499 and the 60GB model costs around $599. If you consider everything that is offered by PS3, you will conclude that the price is okay.
60 GB And 20 GB Model
Your 60GB PlayStation 3 will offer a front-slot-loading Blu-ray optical disc drive. It will also feature four USB ports, a memory stick, compact flash, and SD card reader. On the other hand, your 20GB version will not feature a memory stick, and it would have neither a compact flash nor a SD card port. The other difference that you find between the 60GB and 20GB models is that the 60GB model comes with a built-in Wi-Fi. The 20GB model, on the other hand, will only feature an Ethernet port.
Blu-Ray
One of the best features about PlayStation 3, is its Blu-ray optical-disc drive. It can play both games and DVD movie discs. Furthermore, each Blu-ray disc is capable of holding upto 54GB worth of data, which means that games would almost never need extra media space. Its Blu-ray drive will support CD-ROM, CDR+W, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, and DVD+R.
It also has a 2.5” portable hard drives. With PlayStation 3, you can be sure that you have storage space for your network downloaded applications, and media files. And upgrading the hard drive is very easy. All you have to do is drop in a larger capacity 2.5” SATA hard drive into the system.
You can place your new PlayStation 3 vertically or horizontally, on an AV rack. The best part is that you can reposition your console even when the system is running and you do not have to worry about damaging your game or movie disc.
It is obvious that the new PS3 is loaded with features. With the best graphics, playing video games on a PS3 is a whole new experience. Finally, how will it fare? Well, only time can tell, but I am sure for quite some time PlayStation 3 will dominate the competition.
