Phlinx is a fantastic online game that you can play for free at Pogo.com. The game has a couple of variations, but it primarily revolves around using stones to break colored patterns of other stones to release bonus boards. You advance in levels until ultimately you play at an expert level. The game is fast moving, addicting, and a very easy to use interface.
Phlinx is a game that is very well laid out and easy to learn for the beginner. It operates almost like the old fashioned shooter video games such as Space Invaders, Galaga, or the like. The difference is, however, that you are not hitting a moving target in this version. Instead, you are pairing up like colored stones in groups of three or more.
When you pair up sets of three or more Phlinx stones, they disappear. If that disappearance leaves stones with no attachment, then they fall to the bottom and down a ramp. Each stone that falls causes a meter to rise, ultimately causing the bonus round to appear. On the bonus round, you try to release a medallion in the middle of the screen by breaking off the stones around it.
While the game play and the graphics are very good on this Phlinx version, it does grow too easy fairly fast. Still, even with it easy the game is fun to play. You will find yourself playing game after game once you get the hang of it and their are several skill levels that you can easily adjust in the upper right corner of your screen.
The only negatives to this free online game of Phlinx is the fact that the game is relatively easy to master, and the game changes very little as it goes up in levels. The game pretty much keeps the same exact visuals throughout the game, though the color patterns change each time you play. Still, the game retains replay ability simply through the addictive nature of the game. You will find yourself having tons of fun just knocking down the stones.
