Picking the right video game console has become a little tough lately. The large number of options can be very complicated, and the price differences are hard to understand unless you are informed. The game systems each have their advantages, and knowing these advantages can make all the difference in the world. Here are the active gaming systems out there, and why you might want to buy each one:
Playstation 2 - The PS2 is one of the classic video games of all time, and has become the aging veteran. Of the older game systems that are out there, it is the most relevant because you can play older games as well as most newer games on it. The price is the big draw here, as you can now find these systems for very cheap. Used systems can be had for around 50 bucks.
X-box - The X-box is a great game as far as for the X-box games. The problem is they are making precious few if any of these anymore. All the games are going to the X-box 360 system. This means that you are stuck playing outdated games that will not get updated in the future. If you like playing specific older games, then it might be worthwhile to have this system. Otherwise, it is not worth messing with.
X-box 360 -The X-box 360 is one of the better gaming systems out there on the market today with outstanding graphics and games. The only real knock on this system is one can not help but wonder if it will go the way of the old X-box when they come up with better technology down the road. Nothing is worse than dropping cash on a new system that then becomes outdated before the game is even close to wearing out. The X-box 360 is nice, however, and offers a built in saving mechanism. No memory cards needed.
Playstation 3 - The PS3 is the ultimate gaming experience from top to bottom. It is progressive in that it will stay relevant, and it has the best graphics and gameplay of all the systems in my opinion. It also can play Blu-Ray discs which is a huge feature that distinguishes it from the rest. The PS3 is expensive, but the extra money is well worth the investment.
Wii - The Ninetendo Wii is one of the newer game platforms on the block and has been wildly popular. The only thing about the Wii is that the concept grows stale after a while. The big draw is the fact that you can actually perform the games with remote controllers and your movement making the games more interactive. The problem is, most everyone I know grows tired of this and ends up using a regular controller anyway in the long run. With that being said, the technology is far short of the PS3 and even the X-box 360.
