Absolutely Free MMORPG

Technology is getting better and better nowadays and there’s no stopping our gaming experience. 20 years ago we find ourselves drooling over 16-BIT Mario games. The fun never stops when we see Mario or Luigi jumping over koopa-tropers and trying to save the princess in each stage. Then comes the PlayStation and then Xbox, and our individual world is shattered with the ability to play MMORPG (Massive Multi-player Online Role Playing Game).

Honesty, I lost track where MMORPG started. But it all seemed to get really popular when South Korea started to bring out the best of gaming software. We’re not only to play the game ourselves but we are now playing with thousands, even millions of people worldwide.

At first we have to pay to play these popular titles. Even now, the best of games can still command great following even if you have to pay for each minute of being connected to that system. The World of Warcraft, rakes millions of profits each year because of the membership and fees for being connected online.

But if you’re really not that gaming person but you want to try out some of these games, don’t worry. There are titles available right now that you can try and these are absolutely free. You just download their software online, create an account and play the game like crazy. Here are some of the games that I’ve been trying and you might have some fun playing them.

Pangya – ah, for golfers out there who want to take it to the next level, this is your game. At first you’ll have a hard time figuring out your swing but after a game or two, you’ll get the hang of it. This game pits you against other golfers who happen to be online. You can join a group of people who are planning to start a game and once you start, the race on finishing with the least of strokes and the fastest time possible wins. The number of points from your wins can be used to purchase some magic to increase the chances of getting that hole in one. The developers earn by selling stuff that will also help you in your quest to be the best.

Bots – if you love robots, then this will be your game. I think bots has a story but I really don’t care. They call their enemies virus and once you start creating an account and download the software, you’re on your way to smashing other robots or “virus.” The best thing about this is that you can play together to defeat viruses in different stages or you can play against one another. You can practically feel how it hurts to be a robot being drilled by the enemy. Earnings are also come from the upgrades for your robots. But if you’re like me, as long as I smash them, I’ m having the time of my life.

WarRock – Definitely my favorite! This free game is still in beta version in Asia but this is really addictive. This is an MMORPG spin off of counter strike and half-life but instead of running against the enemies, you can get a car, a helicopter, cycle, tank or anything that can smash the enemies into pieces. Choose from Medic, Engineer, Assult, Sniper or a Launcher to play your role in this really fun and interesting shooting game.

Sony’s Remodeled PSP (PlayStation Portable)

The portable PlayStation has released its newest “remodeling” of its own. With serious competitor Nintendo DS and DS Lite rocking the country and the world of handheld gaming, Sony has to pull more sleeves to the PSP on the road faster than DS. It has come up with the remodeled PSP, available in September, 2007. There are external changes and add-ons that you might like. Under the hood, it has also changed quite a lot of things that you will find amusing and even beneficial in enhancing your handheld gaming experience.

Let’s start with what you’ll see and feel. The thickness of the portable player has been reduced as PSP claims up to 19%. While they were at it, we think they should have gone for 20-25% or else it will not be noticeable. For first time owners of PSP, they wouldn’t even notice this change. With 19%, it wouldn’t even create a sensational buzz among the PSP followers if this was the only good thing about the new PSP. It’s only noticeable for those who already have, or have tried PSP for a long time to notice the difference. If it may add up to the sleekness of the PSP, it could be from between zero to at least 1 in the gauge of ten.

Another physical change on the PSP is its weight. It’s not that PSP is rock heavy, but Sony has made some minor changes in its hardware components. It’s now 33% (why all the odd numbers) lighter than its predecessor. Now this is something noticeable although if you take a look at it online, you wouldn’t even see the difference if they’re placed face down. You have to hold it to believe it. Since the PSP is already quite light, thank you very much, it wouldn’t really upgrade its desirability level to its peak. But we appreciate the changes.

The best changes in PSP so far are the added things that you can do to it. Instead of sticking your eyes closely to the monitor of the PSP, why not make it bigger this time? The new PSP can now be plugged into your television. Your portable player will not be so portable anymore but from the fact that it can be played on wider screen at 480p, but this change is a total thumbs up for the PSP. We recommend you watch movies in this thing but not in playing games. When you use your TV for games, the letters are quite big, and you’ll think you’re watching a text only channel.

Aside from the TV-out option, the RAM of PSP has been doubled. That means the loading time of games in your PSP will be faster. It’s not that the present generation of games will lag the PSP; this is just a preparation of something bigger that will come.

With all the changes of the PSP, the price fortunately didn’t change a bit. For the “classic” color of PSP, it’s still going to be near $170. If you want something artistic, the company has also come up with a Star Wars edition at $200 a piece.
