WWE Extreme Rules Pay Per View Predictions and Analysis

On Sunday, June 7th at 8 eastern the WWE Universe is set to explode in a huge pay per view called Extreme Rules. This wrestling pay per view is bringing a number of story lines to a close, and hopefully will introduce some new ones as well. Here is a match by match preview, along with predictions of how they might turn out:

WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Batista (Steel Cage Match)- In one of the biggest matches of the night, WWE champ Orton is set to defend against Batista within a steel cage. Having just fought at the last pay per view, this match is likely to end with the same result. Legacy will prevail and Orton will keep the title, though Batista will be made to look invincible in spite of the loss. It is time for someone new to step up to Orton in my opinion.

World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. Jeff Hardy (Ladder Match)- This match seems to be shaping up as the best match of the night. Edge and Hardy know each other well and work great together. Hardy is a master of the ladder match, but so is Edge. I see Hardy taking the title, in spite of more interference from brother Matt.

John Cena vs. Big Show (Submission Match)- This match is yet another chance for Cena to prove that he is unbeatable on a Pay Per View. If he beats Big Show in this match up, then Show will lose all kinds of credibility as a WWE Superstar. In a surprise, the WWE will finally let Big Show win over Cena on Pay Per View.

ECW Champion Christian vs. Jack Swagger vs. Tommy Dreamer (Triple Threat Hardcore Rules Match)- This match up will be a sleeper hit as Christian has breathed new life into a stale ECW brand. He will retain the title, but Swagger will show well. Dreamer is rumored to be retiring after this Pay Per View and moving on to a General Manager position.

Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho (No Holds Barred Match)- Mysterio will be phenomenal as usual, but the belt is going to Jericho after this match. Jericho has been building to a major title with his latest heel run, and he is largely considered to be the best of the heels going. That means he needs a title for the baby faces to chase. Jericho will take the title.

United States Champion Kofi Kingston vs. MVP vs. William Regal vs. Matt Hardy (Fatal Four Way Match)- This will be a very entertaining match and it just might see a heel turn. I expect MVP to turn back heel during this match up. He has been way too laid back about Kofi taking his title on Raw, and he will strike back in this match. MVP will win the title back, and turn heel while doing so.

CM Punk vs. Umaga (Samoan Strap Match)- This will be Punk’s chance to make up for the loss to Umaga at the last pay per view, and he will capitalize. Expect Punk to win, and then attempt to cash in the Money In The Bank on Monday Night Raw the next night.

Miss WrestleMania Vickie Guerrero vs. Santina Marella (Hog Pen Match)- Vickie will win, though few will care one way or the other. This story line certainly needs to die. It is unbelievably stupid.
