On June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson passed away at the age of fifty. Since he died at such a young age and because the “King of Pop” had not been in bad health, many people are shocked. Even more, they are curious. Why did this legendary singer die at such a young age? Although there are many questions which have not yet been answered, pieces of the puzzle are beginning to fit together.
Michael Jackson went into cardiac arrest in his home. The only witness of the incident was Jackson’s live-in doctor, who was unable to revive him. When paramedics rushed to the scene, they were also unable to revive him. The live-in doctor, named Dr. Conrad Robert Murray was nowhere to be found, but has since agreed to speak with law enforcement officials.
According to E!Online News, Michael Jackson’s autopsy was inconclusive. Although there are no signs of foul play or trauma, toxicology reports are still needed. This can take weeks. The autopsy did show that Michael Jackson was taking prescription medications, which have been rumored to be Xanax and Oxycontin.
The singer was also receiving a daily injection of Demerol, which is a pain killer that’s similar to Morphine. He received an injection of Demerol at 11:30, which was a little bit more than 50 minutes before the 911 call was received.
According to TMZ, records also show that in 2007, Michael Jackson had a lawsuit filed against him for not paying a pharmacy $101,926.66.
As if this isn’t enough to prove that Michael Jackson had been addicted to prescription drugs, his attorney says that he has feared for quite some time that Jackson had been overmedicated. The attorney says that he warned Jackson that what had happened to Anna Nicole Smith could happen to him, but nothing made a difference.
Apparently, Michael Jackson’s attorney is not the only one who was aware of his drug addiction. It was also not surprising for Lisa Marie Presley, who Michael Jackson was married to at one point. According to TMZ, Lisa Marie Presley wrote on her blog that Jackson used to say that he thought he would end up like Elvis Presley, who died of a prescription drug addiction in his 40’s.
Also up in the air? The future of two of Michael Jackson’s three children. The biological mother of Paris and Michael Jr. never gave up full custody of her children. According to TMZ, however, she has not played any role in their lives and they will fight to prevent her from obtaining custody of them. The mother, Debbie Rowe, will be granted a great deal of child support from Jackson’s estate in the event that she does get the children.
