The Top Five Vampire Movies of All Time

Vampire movies have been around forever, and they will continue to be around for the years to come. The reason for this is because they tap into a very vulnerable place for us. The thought of a vampire living among us is enough to make a good vampire movie seem real, and the great ones make us feel it with conviction. This list of the top five vampire movies of all time is highly personal to me, and you are sure to disagree – not all movies affect people in quite the same way. Here are the best vampire movies of all time in my humble opinion:

romow

Twilight – Though this vampire movie is new to the big screen, it has made an impact in the world of vampire movies in a big way. The reason for this is simply because the movie is sharp, edgy and edge of your seat exciting. The modern way that the vampires are portrayed is also very much welcomed, as it has given new life to the vampire genre. The music rocks too.

Nosferatu – This super old flick is silent, and yet it still is one of the scariest movies of all time. Some will argue that it should be further up the list and I can understand why. For me, however, the movie loses out due to the lack of sound after viewing it more than a couple of times. The first time you see Nosferatu, however, you will never forget it. The sound does not affect that first viewing other than to give it a haunting effect.

Near Dark – This movie haunted me for a long time after I saw it the first time. Many people have never seen it, but it is certainly a classic among the vampire crowds. With all the intense action and gore, it is no wonder. The movie brings vampires up close and personal, and that is a scary place for a vampire to be. You will see them in your sleep after this one.

Dracula – The original Dracula with Bela Lugosi is still among the best vampire movies of all time if for no other reason than the fact that it brought vampires front and center. The movie itself holds up remarkably well considering how old it is, and Bela Lugosi will always be Dracula to me. The original is still one of the best ever.

From Dusk Till Dawn – The scene with Selma Hayek is enough to put this movie at the top of the heap, but then I am biased towards Selma. Whatever the case, the movie was one of the best modern versions of a vampire movie made. George Clooney also stars in the movie, and this one has a turn in the middle of the movie that makes it to me, the best vampire movie ever made.
