Trying to do a top five list with movie stars such as Matthew McConaughey is difficult. They have starred in so many movies, and we are all jaded by the various genres that we personally like the most. Keep this in mind as I run through the five movies that I personally liked the best, and feel free to share your choices in the comments section that follows.

5. The Wedding Planner (2001)
While chick flicks are not my normal cup of tea, this particular movie was actually pretty darn good. The movie is about a guy (Matthew McConaughey) that is about to marry a girl that he is not in love with. Their wedding planner, played by Jennifer Lopez, falls for him and the comical fun begins. A simple premise, but it is played with zest by Matthew and Lopez.
4. How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days (2003)
Yet again, we are looking at a chick flick but this one has a twist. This is almost a sort of anti-chick flick because it focuses on the silly things that women do to ruin relationships. This movie will make even the toughest guys laugh out loud, while at the same time delivering enough love story moments to satisfy any lady. This is one great movie.
3. Failure to Launch (2006)
Once again Matthew McConaughey brings a seemingly obvious chick flick into a new place. It seems that he has made a career taking movies that are normally not watchable for guys, and making them watchable. This movie is about a guy that is not moving out of his parents house. His parents, played by Terry Bradshaw and Kathy Bates, then go out and hire a girl to help him get out. This movie is very funny.
2. Frailty (2002)
Finally, we get to a guy movie. This movie is about a father that loses his mind, and thinks that he is killing evil spirits. His sons, one of which is played by Matthew McConaughey, are dragged into the mess. This is a movie that makes many “best horror movies you never saw” lists. If you have not seen this movie, do yourself a favor and go get it. It is one of the scariest movies you will ever see.
1. We Are Marshall (2006)
Without a doubt, this is Matthew McConaughey’s best movie to date. The movie is absolutely gut wrenching, and it chronicles a true story to boot. The story of the Marshall football team is one that is powerful enough on it’s own, but this movie really brings it home. Matthew McConaughey plays his most heartfelt role yet as the coach of this football team after the crash. This is the finest movie he has ever starred in, and should be a classic for a very long time.
