Nick and Jessica Reach Divorce Settlement

Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson famously split up last Thanksgiving, and finalized their divorce in June. However, they were unable to reach an agreement on the dividing up of their assets. It looks as though that has finally happened. It has been reported that the couple earned $36 million dollars during the course of their marriage. Under California law, that means that Nick would be entitled to half of that amount.

It was rumored that Jessica offered Nick $1.5 million, which he rejected. Sources now say that they have settled, with Nick getting much more than the $1.5 million, but far less than the $18 million he is entitled to. He is said to have agreed to less than the half he that is owed to avoid a nasty court battle. “The first few months were hard,” a friend of Lachey told People Magazine in November. “But Nick finally realized he was in a better place.”

Lachey had a pretty good year considering all the hoopla surrounding the divorce. He recorded the album ‘What’s Left of Me’ and also toured. The album went into the charts at number 2 and was a great comeback for the former member of the boy band 98 Degrees.

Simpson, on the other hand, released a new album ‘A Public Affair’ and starred in the film ‘Employee of the Month.’ She also recently embarrassed herself at a Dolly Parton tribute when she forgot the words to the song she was suppose to sing. Simpson is set to tour in 2007 in support of her new album. The singer is rumored to be dating her co-star in ‘Employee of the Month’ Dane Cook. and has also been linked with pop singer John Mayer. She is also finishing up a new movie called ‘Blonde Ambition’ that co stars Luke Wilson which will be in theaters in 2007.
