Katherine Jackson, who is the temporary guardian for Michael Jackson’s children, has asked for money. According to People News, Katherine Jackson asked a judge to provide an allowance for the children so that there would be funds available to meet their needs.
The request was filed in Los Angeles. The document read, “The minor children were completely and wholly financial dependent upon their father, Michael Jackson” and currently have “no financial resources to provide for their care and support” (People News).
You may be wondering why Katherine Jackson can’t just give the children money when they need it. Well, apparently, the mother of the Jackson Five is actually broke herself! People reports that the court documents say that Michael Jackson is the one who provided money to both the children and to his mother, Katherine Jackson. According to People News, the court documents say that Katherine Jackson “was financially dependent upon her son and ‘has no independent means of support’ other than her ‘extremely modest’ Social Security Benefits.”
The court hearing for the estate and for the custody of the children is not going to occur until August 3, 2009. This is also the same date of the court hearing during which Debbie Rowe may either fight, or not fight, for her children. Although there have been reports in the past that said that Debbie Rowe wanted to fight for the children, the biological mother has been accused of only wanting to get her hands on Michael Jackson’s estate. Since this happened, she has not talked too much about whether she will seek custody or not. The reason?
Apparently, Michael Jackson owed Debbie Rowe a decent amount of money that has not yet been paid. Katherine Jackson and Debbie Rowe may be working out a settlement based on this money. Although Rowe claims that she does not want money, it seems that this settlement may be enough to shut her up about the children.
Debbie Rowe is the biological mother of Paris and Prince Jackson. When she was very determined to seek custody of them, Rowe said that she would also be willing to take custody of Blanket if it would keep the three Jackson kids together. Rowe will be fighting for permanent custody, not temporary. According to the will that Michael Jackson left behind, Katherine Jackson and Diana Ross were both listed as guardians for the children. It does not seem that he wanted Rowe to have any part of his kids.
As far as how much money Katherine Jackson will be provided for the sake of the children, it is anyone’s guess. What’s most interesting is that Michael Jackson was said to be broke at the time of his death. This was the main reason that he was planning to do a comeback tour in London. His former nanny did an interview in which she mentioned that Michael Jackson had problems managing money.
How much money can there really be? How much money will the judge grant to Katherine Jackson for Paris, Prince, and Blanket Jackson? Is Debbie Rowe going to seek custody of her children? All of these questions are going to be answered, or at least somewhat closer to being answered, on August 3.
