Five Summer Movies Heating Up June 2009

The summer movie season is upon us here in 09 and June is shaping up to be a great month at the theater. With the summer season, some of the biggest stars in Hollywood begin releasing great movies. This summer of 09 is no exception as the month of June alone brings us no less than five movies that look to be blockbuster worthy. Here are five summer movies being released throughout the month of June that you should not miss:

Land of the Lost - Any fan of Will Ferrell will be drawn to this comedic take on the Sid and Marty Croft show of the same title. Back in the seventies the Land of the Lost television show was the one show you did not miss on Saturday morning. In this edition, Ferrell plays a dim witted park ranger that thinks he knows more than he does. This does not mix well with being trapped back in time with man eating dinosaurs and sleestacks.

The Taking of Pelham 123 - Any movie that mixes Denzell Washington and John Travolta has to be good. This movie has it all; action, drama, intrigue, mystery, suspense, and top notch acting. The movie stars Travolta as the bad guy once again who takes Washington on a Die Hard like ride through hostage control.

The Proposal - No summer movie season would be complete without a romantic comedy from Sandra Bullock. It seems that she has one (at least) every single summer movie season. This one stars Ryan Reynolds as her love interest. Reynolds is her assistant who gets forced to pose as her fiancee so that she will not get deported to Canada. Reynolds takes her home to meet the family and typical Bullock fun follows.

Year One - Jack Black and Michael Cena star in this story of two primitive hunters that wander through ancient Biblical times. No Bible character seems to be left out as the comedic exploits of Black and Cena are on full display. Putting Jack Black in a caveman looking outfit is funny all by itself when you think about it.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - The long awaited sequel is here and tons of Transformers fans could not be happier about it. This movie is sure to pack the same action punch that the first movie did, and the story seems to be rather well developed as well. The number one thing about this movie is that they were able to get Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox back for the sequel. Top notch fun here for the Transformers crowd and beyond.

These five movies make the June summer lineup one of the best in recent years. There is literally something in here for everyone. From action to comedy and everything in between, the summer of 2009 should be enough to keep the theaters full.
