Heath Ledger - One Of the Few Actors Who Could’ve Been

It’s a shame to have someone pass on at the height of a career. But oftentimes, this one incident usually propels that person to greater heights of fame, and they earn heartfelt respect from those who never expected that death can be this sudden. Heath Ledger is probably one of the rare actors who would be thus received, since he died during the upswing of his career – much like Elvis Presley and James Dean were during the height of theirs, or what River Phoenix and music artist Jeff Buckley earned soon after their death. With the upcoming release of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’, Ledger would surely be remembered as one of the few actors who really could’ve been.

New “Netflix Player” Competes with Apple TV

Netflix has just introduced a new “set-top” device to compete with Apple TV. The unit allows Netflix subscribers to stream movies and television shows downloaded online from their computer to their home TV set. Netflix, which is now the largest video rental service in the US, developed the new set-top device in conjunction with Roku, a manufacturer of consumer electronics.

iTunes to Feature HBO Movies Online

Apple is currently negotiating with HBO to sell movies and programs from the pay-cable network on its iTunes web site. Wired.com is reporting that executives from Apple have confirmed the two companies are in negotiations and nearing a deal to secure HBO programming for iTunes.

Apple Teaming Up With Fox for Movie Rentals

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that 20th Century Fox has finalized a deal with Apple Inc. that will allow iTunes users to download feature films online. Reportedly, users will download movies and other Fox video content from the iTunes site, and will be allowed to keep the movies for a specified amount of time.

Natalie Portman’s Strange Steamy Love Scene

If you are a fan of the excellent movie director Wes Anderson you are aware that he a new opus out called ‘The Darjeeling Limited.’ What you may not know about is a new ‘prequel’ to the movie that is called ‘Hotel Chevalier.’ The film is only 12 minutes and available for free via iTunes. The most notable thing about the movie is the brief nude scene that the sexy Natalie Portman agreed to take part in. This is the first time that the actress who regularly appears in the top 100 lists of sexiest females in magazines such as ‘FHM’ and ‘Maxim Magazine’ has agreed to appear in the buff in a role.

Movie Review Sites Reviewed

When I type in in Google a title of the movie, IMDB site usually goes up on top of the list. They have millions of movies, actors and actresses in their well maintained database, and it’s unmistakable that they could be the one stop site for information. However, what I’m usually looking for by the title of the movie is the reviews of the movie. It’s not that I have to be told what to watch, but I have to make sure of where I put my money. Of course, there’s yahoo and MSN whic can provide me with the users review of the movie, but I think it’s way too biased and confusing. One time there’s a review of the movie that says it is the perfect movie for the season while others said they wasted another two hours of their life.

Spider-Man 3 - The Great Third Installment of the Spider-Man Trilogy

The long awaited third installment of the Spider-Man movie trilogy has hit the big screen and is impressing many. With a strong following of Spider-Man fans, the new Spider-Man film has sold out at many theaters and topped the box office with a weekend gross of $151 million, more than 30 times the next runner up. Tobey Maguire replicates his previous performance in the first two Spider-Man films but is able to show another side of Spider-Man when a dark, gooey substance turns his suit and his personality towards the dark side. Tobey Maguire still gets the change to portray the nerdy Peter Parker and the superhero Spider-Man but with this new dark side of Spider-Man, Maguire shows more of his acting range. As you have seen in the first two movies, Peter Parker’s uncle was murdered. In Spider-Man 3, Peter Parker forgets his typical role of saving lives and focuses on getting revenge on the man who killed is uncle who is now a superhero known as the Sandman.
