Despite losing American Idol, it has been predicted that Adam Lambert will sell even more copies of his debut album than the winner, Kris Allen. What exactly is Adam Lambert’s debut album going to be, however? It seems that it may not be quite what everyone is expecting – including Adam Lambert himself.
At the moment, Adam Lambert is working on his first studio album. The album deal is with 19 Recordings/RCA Records. His album is expected to be released this fall. Adam Lambert will be working with RedOne, who collaborated with Lady Gaga on her first (and very successful) album, as well as with Akon. Adam Lambert’s album is expected to be incredibly successful.
There is another record company which is already planning to release an album by Adam Lambert, however. It is a small Indie label called Hi-Fi Recordings/Wilshire Records. The album will be titled On With the Show. The tracks that would be featured on this album are ones that Adam Lambert co-wrote and recorded prior to being a contestant on American Idol.
Adam Lambert is very upset about this. According to E!News, he said, “The work that I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on.” Even some of Adam Lambert’s fans have rejected the first single, Wait, which has been released on the internet this week. Many of them believe that the song is too pop, and simply is not a good representation of Adam Lambert’s style.
Does Hi-Fi Recordings/Wilshire Records have the right to release the album? Apparently so. E!News reports that the CEO of the record company said, “We would never put anything out that wasn’t fully owned by the parties involved with all of the right secured. We were really careful.”
Why exactly does this record company want to release the album? It seems as though they are simply money-hungry. The CEO of the record company promises that he is not releasing the album solely for profitable gain, however. He claims that the music is very good, and that he believes that it should be heard by fans of Adam Lambert. He also says that Adam Lambert is going to be earning his fair share of profits from the album.
Apparently, it seems that Adam Lambert is not going to win this battle. Hi-Fi Recordings/Wilshire Records appears to have thought of everything when it comes to the legalities of the album that they are planning to release. Will the album make Adam Lambert’s career or break it? The reality TV show contestant’s fan base is so large and loyal that it is unlikely that an album released so long ago will change their opinion of him.
