Movie Review Sites Reviewed

When I type in in Google a title of the movie, IMDB site usually goes up on top of the list. They have millions of movies, actors and actresses in their well maintained database, and it’s unmistakable that they could be the one stop site for information. However, what I’m usually looking for by the title of the movie is the reviews of the movie. It’s not that I have to be told what to watch, but I have to make sure of where I put my money. Of course, there’s yahoo and MSN whic can provide me with the users review of the movie, but I think it’s way too biased and confusing. One time there’s a review of the movie that says it is the perfect movie for the season while others said they wasted another two hours of their life.

So here are sites that will give you not only the “it’s great” or “don’t watch” remark. Look for your anticipated movie and see how they are pitted against the writer/reviewers.

Movies.ign.com – This site is operated by IGN, more known for their authority in the gaming industry. As games are also seen in tubes, I guess movies are not really that different. IGN has a pool of writers that constantly give us an update of the movie just released. Click on the link “review” on the left column and see all possible movies released in the US to be reviewed. It might not be complete but the reviewed movies are some of the anticipated movies. The review could be quite long at times but maybe they wanted to be more thorough in their review. A trailer of the movie is also provided within the article.

Filmcritic.com – The front page of the website will give you the preview of the movies that were recently released in US. At the same time, it also reviews the latest DVDs released. If you don’t like reading that much, this website is perfect for you. They will be rated by stars and clicking on the movie will give you a detailed review. There’s also a section about the latest news from the movie industry.

Moviehole.net – The website features the latest from the movie industry. Rumors of the upcoming remakes, new movies and collaboration are posted in the website. The movie review is a small section but it gives a careful review of the movie that was just recently released. It also features interviews from known actors of the recently released movies, and most of them are exclusive.

The websites described above are general sites but if you wanted to be more “specialized,” you might want to consider these sites.

Rottentomatoes.com – This site used to be a website that gives bad news about the movies. Not that they are spoilers, but they just love to point out the bad thing about the movie. Currently the website collects the comments of renowned movie critics who write for famous newspapers.

Notcoming.com – This website doesn’t feature blockbuster movies but small home movies that might not be shown in the country. The unknown movies are reviewed from the DVD version so those movie s might be quite old. But they also update on new DVD releases that will be interesting to general viewers.

Celebrity Inspired Jewelry

Even in the early days of Hollywood, the public looked to the stars to determine what is fashionable. After all, celebrities were expected to be always glamorous and in vogue. Some of the popular jewelries were based on what the stars wore (or the other way around). Heavy metal dangling earrings were fashionable when silent movies were still the trend. When sound was incorporated in the movies, the rattling of these earrings overwhelm the actor’s voices and so tighter fitting jewelries replaced the dangling ones. The public noticed and this form of jewelry was popularized.

Nothing much has changed at present for the public who is still particular with what the stars are wearing. This is evident in the way the stars have to dress up for the Oscars because they know people are looking at what they wear. The celebrities are both fortunate and unfortunate in events such as these. They get to wear expensive designer jewelries and they get the publicity that they want. However, they rarely own these jewelries but the jewelers get free advertising.

At any rate, celebrity–inspired jewelry is becoming increasingly popular and imitations are selling well. The way the stars influence current trends is evident in the media’s brouhaha over celebrity engagement rings. The engagement of Catherine Zeta-Jones to Michael Douglas was sealed with a 10–carat marquise diamond. Jennifer Lopez’s finger glittered with a 6–carat pink diamond when Ben Affleck asked for her hand in marriage. All eyes are also on TomKat (Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes) when Katie wore the 5–carat ring given by Tom.

Popular TV shows like “The Sex and the City” also influence fashion trends. The horseshoe necklace worn by Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) in this widely watched TV series is among the top 10 online celebrity jewelries. Imitation of pendants worn by Brittany Murphy, Madonna, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Jennifer Lopez are on the top list of celebrity jewelries that are considered very stylish. Gwyenth Paltrow’s drop earrings, Paris Hilton’s drop chandelier earrings, Jennifer Aniston’s stud earrings, Jessica Simpson’s hoop earrings and Jessica Biel’s dazzling stud earrings which was given by boyfriend Justin Timberlake all got in the top 20 online celebrity jewelries. Gem–studded cuff bracelets worn by Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron and Kate Winslet also caught the press’ and the public’s attention. Catherine Zeta-Jones, one of the most fashionable stars nowadays, was also caught wearing a gleaming diamond necklace with ruby accents.

As long as celebrities exist, our fascination for them and the jewelries they wear will always be present.
