The Pros and Cons Between Public and Private Schools

Parents are becoming more and more concerned when it comes to education. And that is actually good because it means they are paying more attention to how their kids learn than simply letting them go to school. At this day and age, the battle between the pros and cons of studying in either a public or a private school has become more apparent. all arguments which have been directed at this topic has produced compelling ideas which cannot be disregarded.

Among the general cases in point when it comes to comparing public schools from private ones is the quality of education. Most of the time, the private school sector gets the vote over this one. People usually have a preconceived notion that enrolling in a private school will equate to better educational quality. Some people say that it is mostly because such schools can boast of great facilities which can stimulate and foster a learner-focused environment. Parents think that their kids will receive all the assistance they need because they are actually paying something substantial for their education. Therefore, an expectation of producing impressive students is embedded in the mind.

teensBut the truth is, the quality of education can never be fully relied on the learning facilities. If parents wanted to give the best type of education which their children deserve, they should look instead at the type of teachers which head the subjects in the school. Facilities simply aid and assist in learning, but what still matters on top of it all are the teachers encountered by the student. Students look up to their teacher and the latter serves as their role model if not even their second parent while inside the school. Also, teachers are the one who facilitate learning inside the classroom.

Public schools also get the upper hand when it comes to tuition fee. Generally, parents no longer have to worry about paying exorbitant fees just to send their child to school. As everybody is aware of, public schools are subsidized by the government. Aside from the tuition fees, parents also have lesser burdens to carry as their kids may also be provided by the school with materials they need. Pretty much the same facilities are provided for students in public schools as the ones they can experience in private ones. However, expectations must not be set too high when it comes to choosing to go to public schools.

When it comes to social concerns, parents may find themselves more at ease when it comes to sending their kids to private schools. And that is one advantage that can really be credited with private schools. Public schools are sometimes notorious for the bullies which “rule” each grade level. Parents can hardly control this because they all just benefit from the school. Things are different when it comes to going to private schools. Parents can demand for heightened attention to their kids since they pay hefty amounts just to send their kids to such schools. Private schools really do have better social environment at times.
