Just about everyone has been nervous about taking a test at one time or another, and this common problem does not have to exist. There are a number of things that you can do to increase your score on any kind of test, and to improve your grade or education standing. You simply need to have a plan, and use some test taking strategies that can help to even the odds. Here are some great test taking tips, and how to use them to the best advantage:

1. First, remember that there is little you can do to improve your chances more than studying. The key is to study smart. Nobody is going to ace tests regularly without knowing the material, so make sure that you take the time to learn the things you are supposed to.
2. Once you have the knowledge, it is all about retaining the information. This is where things can get tricky. Many people know the info, but simply can not take a test due to nerves or a blank memory. This can be solved quickly and easily if you follow this guide.
3. First, you should go through the test and answer every single question that you are positive of the answer. This will knock out the vast majority of the test, and leave only those questions that you are uncertain of on the test.
4. Once you are down to the questions you are not sure of, relax and tell yourself that you have already answered enough questions to pass the test, and now you are simply going for extra points. This often is enough to calm your nerves and allow the answers to come to you.
5. Depending on the time you have left, go through and spend equal parts of time on each question carefully considering the logical answers. There are usually some lame answers that you can eliminate simply based on common sense. Rather than trying to find the right answer, try to find all the wrong ones. This is usually much easier and will often trigger the memory needed to answer correctly.
6. Answer every single question and leave nothing blank. The only exception to this is when you are taking a test where wrong answers count against you. These types of tests are rare. For the vast majority a guessed correct answer counts the same as one you knew for sure. Answer them all, and give yourself the best educated guess.
7. Leave time to go back over each question to make certain you marked your test correctly. The occasional accidental wrong answer happens, and it would really stink if that is the difference between a B or an A.
Test taking does not have to be a stressful thing. Look at it as a chance to showcase just how bright you really are, and embrace the idea. Look at it as a personal challenge, and face it with confidence and excitement. You would be surprised at how much the right attitude will help your score.
