Most women would like nothing more than to permanently get rid of unwanted hair. Sexy, silky smooth legs are not the only hair removal that might be on the docket for most women. Armpit hair, facial hair, and even hair in other places are often targeted for removal by women every single day. How can this unwanted hair be removed?
The business of hair removal, no doubt, must be a fairly lucrative one. After all, hair tends to grow back for most women of the world. But for a few weeks, at least, unwanted hair can be removed. Here are a few interesting methods besides the old standbys of shaving and plucking.
Ancient Egyptians used a method called sugaring. It was said to pull the hair out by the root and leave your skin smooth and free of hair for more than two weeks. It was also popular because when hair starts to grow back there is less of it and no stubble.
Sugaring is done by making a paste of sugar, water and a little bit of lemon juice. You can also use honey or molasses. The mixture is heated up to what they call the hardball candy stage, and then applied to the unwanted hair with a spatula. You might want to dust off with cornstarch or plain flour first.
Make sure the paste has cooled off or you will burn your skin. Place a strip of cotton (or any porous cloth or paper) on area in question and quickly pull off. Unfortunately, there is pain involved. But rumor has it that it’s very minimal—much like taking off a band aid with hair underneath it. Yes, beauty does come with a price and so does hair removal. At least it is said to be less painful than waxing.
In India they use another home remedy of a besan, haldi paste. Besan is Chana flour and haldi is a turmeric powder. Both of these ingredients can be bought in Indian grocery stores.
At any rate, the paste is about 75% Chana flour and 25% turmeric. When the paste dries on the skin it is gently scrubbed off. Hair removal will be gradual over a period of a month or so. Massaging the body with almond oil after each treatment is recommended.
If these don’t appeal to you there is always the laser hair removal system. This hair removal technique is very expensive, and any method that vaporizes the pigment located in hair follicles just sounds painful. Though some advertise this hair removal method to be permanent, this does not always remove hair permanently.
If permanent hair removal is what you seek, try electrolysis. This method requires you to brave many hours of pain as it takes a few months to rid yourself of all unwanted hair. If you can stand the feeling of an electric current and a fine needle then this might be something for you to look into. It will also hurt your wallet.
Stick to the home remedies for the easiest and least expensive hair removal techniques. Perhaps you will avoid the pain, and manage to keep the change.
