UFOs Throughout Human History

Reports of Unidentified Flying Objects sighted all over the world have been steadily growing in the past few decades. The beginning of the Second World War saw sporadic sightings by pilots who observed strange flying crafts in the skies. Both the German and American forces thought that what they were witnessing were each other’s new fighter planes, which were later dubbed “foo fighters.” The strange crafts were witnessed displaying maneuvers that were impossible to duplicate, and both sides were puzzled as to the origins of such bizarre technology. It wasn’t long after that the UFO phenomenon as we know it has spiralled from a mildly puzzling and curious phenomenon to the all-out conspiracy theories being churned from all sides today.

paranormal1947 was the year when the modern era for UFO sightings began. A private pilot from Washington State witnessed several objects in the sky and described them as looking like “several saucers skipping across water,” and immediately the press christened the phenomenon as “flying saucers.” The Roswell incident in which a crashed “saucer” was recovered by the U.S. Army followed shortly after, and it wasn’t long before nearly everyone got on the bandwagon and started seeing flying objects in the sky.

Understandably, the general population was still reeling from the effects of the war, and paranoia was very much in the air. Terrified of what the uncertain future might hold, and with enemies both real and imagined looming in the background, the scene was ripe for an alien invasion. The rapid advancement of technology within the next 20 years helped to keep the UFO phenomenon aflame amidst scepticism from the scientific community and the American government. With the launch of the very first Apollo rocket and outer space exploration now more than just mere science fiction, the world was now, more than ever, staring transfixed at the skies.

But is modern man the first to witness these strange and luminous spheres in the sky? Does it mean the UFO myth has been with us since the earliest days of recorded history? A good example of a UFO phenomenon can be found in the Christian bible. Ezekiel has written to having been witness to strange phenomena in the sky. He even goes on in great detail as to describe the strange “chariots.” The Ancient Sanskrit of India also has accounts of the flying chariots, even going as far as to describe what in modern times would be considered a nuclear war. Ancient cave drawings also depict strange floating objects coming down from the sky, and strange visitors can be seen as well.

The fact is that most ancient civilizations in every part of the world have their own ancient UFO or alien myth. From artworks to legends and written records, the stunning conclusion is that man has always looked up in the heavens for answers. Whether these are mere flights of man’s imagination or are actual facts would be up for debate. But the UFO phenomenon has been with us ever since man first looked in the sky and contemplated his place amidst its vastness.
