Dating in this day and age has become an art form. I guess it always has, but it seems as though much more is expected of us men now. We can not just pick up our girl, and head out to a movie on a whim. We have to spend some emotional time first. This means that we have to…talk. Men are not generally real good on the talking thing when it comes to emotional type things. I think that is God’s way of picking on us men, and getting a good laugh. Women love talking about emotions and feelings, while men like to talk about football and beer. Real funny God.
This brings me to the first dating mistake that men make all the time. When it comes to impressing your lady, never fake the emotional stuff. Women have emotional radar like a bloodhound. If you fake it and get by with it, you are setting yourself up for expectations you will never be able to fulfill. If you are busted for this dating mistake, then you will never get another. Either way you lose.
Another common dating mistake is thinking that you are in charge. Women these days are strong and do not respond well to the old way of thinking as a rule. It is one thing to take charge and be a gentleman. It is quite another to bash them over the head with your caveman gig. Leave the club at home, and treat a lady as an equal.
One of the funniest dating mistakes that men make is commenting on women’s flaws. Even if you are making a comment about a woman two booths over at dinner, it is still going to get you in hot water. There are some things you do not talk about. These include but are not limited to:
- Weight - You can not come out well on this one…ever.
- Boob Size - Your girl will take it to mean you are either looking at another girl, or you are unhappy with hers.
- Fashion - You never know what your girl has in her closet.
- Marriage - Unless you have a ring in your back pocket of course.
- Weight - It bears repeating.
Dating mistakes that men make are really just about common sense. Use yours and you will be much better off in the long run. Women want respect in large measure, and sometimes that means that you are going to offend when you do not intend to. In this situation, it is important to nod your head in agreement, and apologize. Never mind if it makes sense to you, as it is really the woman’s perogative to be offended.
Spend plenty of time complimenting, but not so much that your date feels as though she is being sized up for after dinner expectations. You can be complimentary without being lewd. Men somewhere along the line got the notion that being lewd meant romance on the dating stage. While there are a microscopic number of women that might like that, it is generally considered to be tacky and flat out disrespectful. Give your date some class instead.
