Every so often we are faced with a life situation that seems larger than we can handle ourselves. Modern medicines do not fix every single sickness out there, and people get sick every single day with diseases and sicknesses that can not be fixed by doctors either. When we are faced with such problems, we often find ourselves turning to God. This is a natural reaction for people who are feeling helpless, and we find ourselves praying for a miracle.

The Bible does talk about faith healing, and it says that the Lord will respond. The thing about faith healing that has always confused me, is that God may not have it in the cards to let us live on. He might need us to be up in Heaven, or he might need to save someone else through our passing. Any number of situations that are much more advanced than our earthly wisdom may be at work, and it seemed to me that faith healing might be ignoring that possibility.
After praying on the subject, and talking with several others about the subject, I have finally come to a solution in my mind. For my own heart, I feel that God wants us to pray for healing. We are supposed to look forward to Heaven, but we are also instructed to live out our lives here on Earth to the fullest. That means doing whatever we can to stay here and stay healthy. That said, it is not a bad thing to pray for faith healing.
The fact that God may still take us up to Heaven is really out of our hands. If that is God’s intentions, it will happen regardless of our own prayers. He knows our heart, and he knows when we are praying for healing with a clean heart. The fact is, our prayers for healing are about our earthly selves and not our heavenly selves. When we do go to heaven, we certainly will not be feeling bad about leaving Earth. We will be happy that we are there!
God knows that we are willing to go to Heaven when the time comes as Christians. He also knows that miracles through faith healing is a wonderful way to reach nonbelievers. This has been shown through the years with numerous faith healing miracles. When we face sickness, it is a natural reaction to turn to God and ask for help. This is not by accident in my view. I think God wills it to be that way, and he put that yearning in our hearts long before we knew what it was.
