There was a time when considering the possibility of life after death was reserved for those that are deeply religious. Christians believe that when they die, they are judged and ultimately sent to Heaven or Hell, depending upon how they lived their life. Other religions believe similar versions of this story, and then their are a few million people who think life simply ends and all turns black. Regardless of what you believe, it is becoming harder to refute the life after death stories and experiences that have surfaced over the years.

One of the most common life after death descriptions that are around involve travelling down a long tunnel into a bright white light of love. Sometimes the deceased loved ones are there, and sometimes they are only encountered by a Supreme being that is the epitome of love. The description is largely similar to the Christian expectation, and many believe it to be God. Many speak of being given a review of their lifetime in a nanosecond, and ultimately being given a choice of going back or crossing over to “the other side” as it were.
Many people dismiss this story as being the Christian simply seeing what they wish to see as they are sick and dying. That is all fine and good for those Christians involved. But how does that explain non-Christians, and even Atheists experiencing the same or very similar things? Additionally, how is it possible that people on the other side of the planet that have no prior knowledge of the Christian story having a similar experience as well? That answer is far too simplistic and ultimately lacking. There is most certainly something to this story and the experiences that so many have had.
It always amazes me how people can have such a hard time believing that something more happens when we leave life here on Earth. The miracle that is life is reason enough to believe that something more is out there. As a Christian, I will clearly say that I know what is coming in my future, and I believe that with all my heart. Putting that aside for the sake of this article, I must say that I am confused about the reluctance of some to believe that life after death is possible.
If the miracle of life is not enough, then what would be? The fact that we grow up and die does not mean that we have experienced all that we have to experience. When a seed falls to the ground, the cycle of life creates a new tree or plant. When an animal dies and falls to the ground, it becomes food for the other animals, insects, plants and biological life around it. When a raindrop falls, it fills our lakes, streams, and rivers, and nourishes the fields and plains of our planet. Everything is circular. Why not us?
Life after death is not a possibility. It is a certainty. For me and my life, I know that I am only here for a time and then live on in eternity with my Saviour. I hope that when I die, I am deemed worthy of being there, and I hope that others will find the courage to look closer at those signs around them. Life goes on, and so do we.
