Choosing Makeup for Scarred Skin

Although most people use makeup for purposes of enhancing their appearance, some use it to cover up scars and other things which do not simply look okay. However, makeup for scarred skin can be more complicated than ever. When it comes to hiding blemishes, it can be pretty easy to do that with a dab of concealer and a touch of some good old foundation. But when it comes to makeup for scarred thing, it can get a bit more complicated because you do not simply patch that area and expect results to follow.

makeupWhen it comes to choosing makeup for scarred skin, the first thing you need to know is what type of scars needed to be covered up. Scars come in a lot of many different varieties. There are those which came from acne and those which came from accidents. So what type of scars do you have? There are also some scars which have in turn made the skin uneven so you might want to really consider a makeup in powdered form. Liquid foundations may not be such a good idea because this type of makeup conveniently shapes the skin. As such you will find it difficult to cover up that uneven area of your skin.

Then when it comes to choosing a makeup for acne scars, you should also consider your skin type. If you have oily skin you should choose something liquid base rather than oil based. Choosing the latter might simply erupt your skin and cause you further breakouts. You should always keep this in mind especially when choosing your foundation because this will become the base of your makeup. It would also be a great idea if you choose a makeup that is certified hypo-allergenic especially if you have sensitive skin that makes it prone to acne and other types of blemishes. You should also care to scrutinize your makeup well and make sure that they are non-comedogenic and that they do not contain components which can clog you pores.

Apart from knowing your skin type and the roots of your scars, the next thing you need to know is the color of the makeup. Nothing beats doing a skin test apart from simply rubbing the makeup on top of your hand. This is especially important when you are choosing your foundation. Make sure that it fits your skin tone just right and would be able to mix in with your natural color without much trouble. When it comes to choosing the right tone, your foundation should be neither too light nor too dark when you apply it on your skin. That’s the way you can tell if your foundation fits perfectly for you. However, you might need a foundation that comes in different tones when it comes to covering up your scars especially if there is some form of discoloration. To help you with this dilemma you can also choose to apply some concealer first before the foundation. Then top it off with some powder for a cleaner output.
