Logitech just launched a Mac edition of high-end Logitech’s diNovo Edge keyboard. It’s different form the initial version launched for Windows. It’s one of the most expensive and best looking keyboards available today. The price of this keyboard is $159 which we think is a bit high. Apart from few extra keys, we could not find anything special in this edition. It’s attractive and has a great response time. However, we could find only a few features which Logitech can boast of.
It has a few dedicated keys for OS X such as Control, Option and Command keys. The typing is easy because of good response and keys are well spaced. Keyboard even has notebook style keys. There are also dedicated keys for sleep and awake. There is also a slider for adjusting volume. The sensitivity is also perfect and you can get maximum volume in one stroke.
Now every Mac comes with an inbuilt Bluetooth so there is an external dongle provided with this mode. You can just connect it with Mac by switching on the Bluetooth feature in Mac. This keyboard comes with a driver which helps you customize the touch pad sensitivity. You can also have some control over the function keys.
The keyboard has extraordinary look and goes well with the Mac. The keyboard can be recharged, which means that you don’t have to rush to market if your batteries are exhausted. The charger is a bit awkward and big though.
The best part is the response time of keys. Logitech has used PerfectStroke key design that takes an advantages of keyboards for both desktops and notebooks. The typing experience was simply great. The only problem will be that the keyboard bundled with Mac is also great, which can make this keyboard a hard sell.
This keyboard allows you to navigate and scroll though the trackpad which is named as TouchDisc by Logitech. This is a great feature because this keyboard has wireless connectivity so you can attach this keyboard and roam. This feature comes handy when you are watching a movie. You can easily control the movie navigation from a distance. The range of this keyboard is more than 15 meters.
People with Mac are not fond of gaming. However, good response time finds its best use while playing games. So people might just suffice with the default keyboard provided by Apple. This keyboard also has additional buttons through, which you can launch Safari browser or media player.
To conclude, we can say that diNove Edge’s Mac edition will not get the same success as the Window version got. However, still we can expect that people looking at touchpad and trackpad will certainly buy this. Further, if you have great concerns regarding the sensitivity and response time of your keyboard, or if you want to control your Mac in a wireless mode and do not want to sit close to your system while watching a movie, this is the best keyboard you can get.
