Flyers are one of the most effective and least expensive ways of creating cold business leads available to small businesses and large businesses alike. Every business at one time or another has a use for a good sales flyer, and putting together an effective one is a must. Here are some tips about sales flyers that will make them highly effective the next time you need to use them:
1. The first thing to consider when you are putting together a sales flyer is how many you are actually going to need. To make it effective, you want to be sure to have plenty enough to cover the target area you are gunning for. If you run out of sales flyers before you can blanket that area, then you are wasting your time and ink.
2. The next thing to consider is the layout of the sales flyer. Most people will notice a strong font on plain white paper. Fancy colors and neon paper will not necessarily mean more conversions. As a matter of fact, some people associate that with tackiness. Stick with white paper and black ink. Not only is it cheaper, but it is also just as effective.
3. Always include a coupon on a sales flyer when it is possible. More importantly, make sure the coupon has true value. If you bring someone into your store for the first time with a sales flyer coupon, and then you do not actually deliver value, you will never see them again. Bite the bullet and actually give a deal. You will get that much more back in the long run.
4. Focus on the areas of town where you will actually make an impact. If you are marketing a bargain thrift store, it makes little sense to then place flyers in the most upscale neighborhoods. Sure some of those folks will still shop your thrift store, but the majority will not. Go with the areas of town that will have the most bang for your buck.
5. Consider a mailer. Mailing flyers can be one of the most cost efficient ways of reaching new potential customers. Check with your local offices to see about doing this if you think your market is a good one.
6. Make sure your sales flyer has a full description and complete management contact information. You would be amazed at how many sales flyers neglect to include a phone number or address. Make sure yours has both.
7. Remember that sales flyers are not always popular when forced. Placing them on cars, doorknobs, and on front porches are generally a really bad idea these days. The most effective method of using a sales flyer is through mailings or personally handing them out. If you hand deliver them you can actually answer questions and put a face to the business for them. That is a great opportunity for your business.

A sales flyer seems like such a simple thing, but if you’ve never done it these pointers are a lot of help.
