Government Grants for Women

Millions of people start new businesses every year. And you’d probably be pretty darn surprised to hear that more than half of those businesses are started up by women. Would you be surprised to hear that women are 75% more likely to start a successful business than men? When you think about it, it starts to make sense. Women are the largest voting group in the United States, meaning if the men and women in government wish to stay in power, they have to provide women with what they want. What better way than to provide massive amounts of grants and loan opportunities to these female entrepreneurs that wish to succeed in their business ventures?

bizwomanWomen seem to have a preconception that when they want to start a business, there aren’t many options as far as money to start it up and get a business running on its feet. The government would certainly seem like the last organization that could help female entrepreneurs get off the ground. This is why many entrepreneurs, not just women, run into financial troubles using personal loans, credit cards, and other high interest options that just aren’t worth it.

The government actually sets aside billions of dollars in its budget to satisfy the needs of thousands of new entrepreneurs every year. So much so that if each of the 8 million or so businesses in regulation today were to apply for an equal split of the money, they would each end up with approximately 70,000 dollars. That is no small number, and for the 500,000 women that do use government grants each year, they know the impact these grants have for their business is great.

Unlike applying for a business loan, which may require you to have previous business credit report available, a business grant doesn’t require any credit. Women can easily receive business grants by providing a list of business and financial goals to the grant office and once a grant applicant has been approved, forwarding progress on these goals over the lifetime of the grant will suffice the grant lenders. It is a simple process that doesn’t require the confusion and complications that a business loan may offer to a female entrepreneur.

Business grants for women can be used for many different business expenses. Many businesses require an office or rent pay, and these business grants can be used for that. Salaries of employees can be drawn from a grant, as well as other overhead expenses. Another unique point of business grants for women is that they can be used to not only start up a new business, but to purchase or expand existing businesses.

Every year, the government sets a budget of several billion dollars to new entrepreneurs for grants. In recent years, the government has set aside spending specifically for women of several millions of dollars. This makes funding a new business for women very easy. In fact, for a woman, applying and being accepted for a business grant is a much more simple process with lower standards than those held to men. For women wanting to gain a grant to pay for a new business startup, be sure to do research on what you can do to better prepare yourself to gain a government grant.
