Increasing office productivity is all about streamlining your work processes. In an office setting, there are usually plenty of ways to make things go a little smoother, and run a little faster. Productivity is something that you can influence with some very simple fixes in the office. Here are some of the easiest ways to increase office productivity in the average office and workplace.

Review everybody’s roles in the office. You would be amazed at how often workers have no clue what their role is supposed to be in an office. They can tell you what they do, but they can not tell you why they do it. What is the purpose of each individual in your office? What is their role in the productivity chain? If they have no role, and serve no purpose in being productive, then find one. If they are not capable of holding a role, then get rid of them. Each member of the team should know why they are vital to the productivity of the office, and how they are going to accomplish that.

Take a hard look at the assembly line. While not every workplace has a typical assembly line, every workplace has a theoretical assembly line; different moving parts that all work together to reach a goal. That goal is your productivity in the office and workplace. Are there any parts of the line that are clogging up your business for the rest of the team? Watch the process from start to finish with regularity and make adjustments when things are not running smoothly. As a manager, it is imperative that you be able to adjust on the fly, and make changes until you have the right mix.

Reorganize your working area to get optimal results. If the office is disorganized, then the business will be as well. Regardless of how large or small the business is, organization is the key to growth. Make sure everything the office does is efficient. If it is not, then again, change it. Find the right way to do things, and the shortest route to do so. This will increase productivity and moral in the office as the workers will find themselves working smarter, and not harder.

Take the time to put your own unique talents into the mix. You are managing these folks for a reason. Apparently, you were good enough at what they do to be entrusted with training and managing them. When things are on a tight schedule or the team is up against the wall, take the time to hop in and help out. This is something you should do anyway to show the proper way of doing things first hand. Your team will mirror you and your training. If you work hard, then so to will they.
