Small business in today’s economy is really suffering. The economy is so tough that even the big businesses are having trouble making money. With that said, more people are looking for small business ideas that have minimal risk. The more you invest in a small business venture, the more you risk losing. With that said, here are five small business ideas that require a smaller investment:
1. A Candy Route - These routes have went up and down over the years, and are experiencing a little bit of a rise lately. The candy machines, toy machines, and vending machines that you see around town are all usually privately owned and operated. The machines themselves are the major investment, and the product can usually be gotten for relatively cheap. Many people have begun these routes with minimum investment. The key is to have some locations locked up before actually investing. Scope out your city and town to see about that before you move forward.
2. A Website Venture - This is a broad category and takes some expertise. If you are web savvy, you could look into starting up some websites, blogs, or providing web content. The costs in this vary depending on the part you go into, but they all are usually cheaper than the traditional small business in the beginning. Ecommerce is still a viable option at this time.
3. A Cleaning Service - Again, this is a great option where investment is concerned. Securing the clients is over half the battle, and can be done ahead of the investment. If you secure enough clients, the investment to get started is truly small in comparison. Start up costs include city fees and regulation, supplies, and a vehicle to transport everything. Also, the cost of employees can be avoided by doing the work yourself.
4. A Landscaping Service - This is one small business that is truly as expensive as you choose for it to be. Some landscapers stick to one specific talent such as flowers, lawn care, or creating natural areas. If you stick to a niche, the costs are not terribly high. For example, if you are going to work exclusively with planting flowers and trees, the cost is shouldered largely by the client anyway. If you cover all areas of landscaping, however, the investment is quite high at the beginning.
5. A Notary Business - Becoming a notary is rather inexpensive, and can be very valuable over time. This small business idea is one that should be researched rather well before undertaking to be sure that the need is there in your area. If you can find a town or city that is short of notaries, then you can make a pretty good living.
Even with the economy struggling, it is possible to earn good money in some small business ventures. The key is to keep the investment low, and to research the potential success of your small business ahead of time. If you take your time, and really study the markets, then you will find a small business to suit both you and your town.

Great Ideas…
I want to add somthing..If you are planning to start your own business, a franchise model makes for an attractive option mainly for the reason that the business is already tried and trusted; the brand has achieved recognition in the market and franchisees do not require you to take up additional marketing efforts. As a common practice, most of the franchisors handle the marketing of the products themselves, while a handful of them allow the franchisees to carry out their own advertising.
