We all love the idea of having a little extra bit of cash on our hands. Being a stay at home mom is usually conceived as being a moneyless opportunity. However, most stay at home moms just don’t realize the real opportunities they have from the comfort of their own homes. After dropping the children off at school, there may be 5 – 8 hours free when a stay at home mom could be making money and making just as much money as her breadwinning husband!
One of the best reasons to start making money as a stay at home mom is because you get to “work” right out of home. A favorite for many is to turn to freelancing. Many stay at home moms double the household income of their family by becoming freelance writers, program coders, and designers. With a little bit of knowledge, know how, and practice, almost anyone can become a stay at home freelancer, not just mom! Staying at home also saves money on trips to the office with rising gas costs. This could mean that mom might actually make more, overall, than dad!
Like any person, a stay at home mom will have her own interests. Why not turn those interests into something a little more profitable. Many women turn to the Internet. The Internet actually has many more money making opportunities than you may think. A stay at home mom might want to turn her interests into a website or blog. With the right amount of marketing and production, a stay at home mom might be able to turn her website into a valuable internet property, making hundreds, even thousands of dollars every single month.
Sometimes it is nice to have the kids out of the house for a stay at home mom. For those mothers that love kids, though, and would much rather take care of them, why not try starting up a babysitting service. Mothers are already very trustworthy, which makes you a great candidate for babysitting other’s children. You get to stay at home, do what you’ve been doing with your own children for years, and be able to enjoy doing something you love all while making a little extra cash on the side.
Why not turn your talents into some money? Using your household as a school, you can market your talents to others by offering a teaching service. Many stay at home moms are the great chefs of the family. Creating a cooking class to other stay at home moms and teenagers is an excellent way to bring in a few extra dollars. You can cook dinner ahead of time, too. If you can play piano or know how to strum a guitar, try offering musical classes. Any other talents you have can be turned into a lesson that people are willing to pay to know.
Don’t think that just because you are a mom that you are powerless to make any money. There are plenty of options for stay at home moms. Opening your eyes and realizing the possibilities is all it takes to bring in a little money to supplement your family.
