I was laid off exactly one year ago from my job as a maintenance manager. I am almost at the point of my unemployment compensation ending. I have applied for over 200 jobs and have gotten nowhere. I have worked hard over the past year to pay down my debts and have succeeded at most of them, except one. I have a home equity loan I took out a few years back in order to do home improvements, pay for a child’s wedding, consolidate bills, and to send my son, who has Cystic Fibrosis, on a trip to Europe with his school. I owe around $40,000 on this loan. If I could pay off this loan I could get by with the small pension I have from the place I worked for 30 years until the job market opens up again. How do I go about applying for this? Thank you.
