If you have plans of having a wrist tattoo, this guideline will help you. Here are a few wrist tattoo tips.
Determine the reason for your tattoo
What’s the purpose of your tattoo? Does it represent something like a brotherhood? Is it meant to make you feel sexy and attract attention? Is it a tribute to a love one? Find the why behind your tattoo. Do you want the whole world to see it? Or is it for personally concealment? Tattoos represent a lot of things to people. They have reasons to have it. If you want to get one, then start with why to have one.
How’s your pain tolerance
Check your how much pain you can take. Tattoos on areas where there’s a huge amount of skin and muscle like the bicep, belly and quads are generally low pain sites. If you think you have low pain threshold then I suggest you have them in these areas. Wrists, armpits, and necks where generally the muscle tissue is less are considered high pain sites. Expect more pain on these body parts.
Find a design
Before determining a specific tattoo design, do a little tattoo shopping. Purchase a few tattoo magazines and flip over the pages. Try to visualize tattoo designs you see from these pages on top of your skin. You could also browse the internet for tattoo websites. There are hundreds of sites to choose from with hundreds of tattoo arts. The usual design you see for wrist tattoo are red flames with skull emblems, tribal patterns, connected thorny flowers and Celtic designs. Print them out and ask friends about their option. If still you are not happy, try visiting a tattoo shop. See what’s hot.
Discuss your ideas with a professional tattoo artist
Maybe you want something original which has more meaning. Set an appointment with a tattoo artist. Discuss your ideas with him. Give him a theme or an inspiration you want for your tattoo to represent. It might be a daughter, a lost love one, a suppressed dream you are now ready to embark on or a break up. Give him some time to sketch out a design to put these ideas and emotions together. Get back with him and see if what he comes up matches with what you want. By the way, it’s also important you show him if you have already existing tattoos in that area you want your tattoo to be on so as the tattoo artist can blend your old tattoos with the new one.
Decide on the color and size and placement on your skin
After having chosen the right tattoo design, decide on the colors that will be used. Usually the tattoo artist will have a sketched out design with matched colors so you have an idea what it will look like. You can request to alter the color design if you are not happy with it. Next, decide on the size of the tattoo and the placement or its rotation position on your wrist. The artist would now measure it and design to your specifications. Again, give him time to re-sketch his old design and create a final design that he will copy on your skin.
Aftercare tips
After the tattoo has been placed, ask for tips how to take care of the sore skin. Of course, one of the things you want to avoid is getting your skin infected. So you may need some medication like antibiotics or pain relievers and some bandages to protect it until it has completely healed.

This article says that the stomach is a less painful area. That is completely false. Ask anyone who has gotten thier stomach inked and they will tell you. I don’t know if the person who wrote this actually has a tattoo there but it defiently hurts much more than the wrist or arms or shoulders. Please consider editting this article.
