Spiderman has captured the hearts and minds of America over the last few years with the release of his movies, and the comic book super-spider has been entertaining kids and adults alike now for centuries. The movies have brought his comics under new light, and have sent a whole new generation of comic collectors looking for his old books. Throughout those old books, you will quickly see that Spiderman is most definately the star of the show, but he is not the only star. The spiderman villains are also quite prominent on this comic book stage. Without them, the greatness of Spiderman would never be shown. Here are the five top Spidey villains of all time:
Venom - Of all the Spiderman villains, Venom is the one that seems to have affected him the most. Venom actually once was fused to Spidey in the form of a black alien that posed as a costume. When Spidey rejected the costume, Venom was born. The Venom storyline pretty much brought Spidey back to the top of the comic book world, and he has not looked back yet.
Green Goblin - Green Goblin is certainly among the most notable Spidey villains of all time. From the horrible death of Gwen Stacey to the incomparable villain played by Defoe in the movies, the Green Goblin is one of the most well known. He is also among the spookiest villains of all time. The guy has exploding pumpkins he can throw at people all while flying on a glider!
Electro - Electro is one of the coolest villains period. His costume with the lightening eyes and the ability to throw lightening bolts? Are you kidding me? This is the best Spidey villain when it comes to drawing great Spidey jokes. Some villains are made to simply give the Spider something funny to say. Electro does it better than anyone.
Hobgoblin - Hobgoblin is basically the green goblin without certain powers or the green costume. Instead the Hobgoblin would wear a goblin outfit that was brown. Though he was not as powerful as the green goblin, he still gave a great storyline to our favorite spider. The later Hobgoblin stories were much better than the early ones, but he is still a favorite of mine.
Carnage - Of all the Spiderman villains, Carnage is the absolute worst of them all as far as evil. He is a mixture of serial killer and alien, and the guy is simply a killer. What makes it so bad is that the Carnage storyline in the Spiderman books actually took the innocence from the Spider. He was no longer the joking, carefree, fun loving web slinger. He became instead a man on a mission that was serious and focused on catching a serial killer alien. (as much as he could be in blue and red pajamas)
