The Batman has long been one of the most beloved and curious superheroes in the landscape of comic books and cinema, and the villains that he finds himself battling with are a big reason why. It was said long ago that the superheroes are nothing without the villains to battle them, and Batman is a perfect example of this. The villains are almost as well known as the superhero himself. That said, here are the best of the best…the top five Batman villains of all time:
5. Poison Ivy - Pamela Isley is far from being a beautifully itchy woman with a plant. She is also downright deadly what with her toxic blood and ability to draw the Batman in close with her pheromones. Poison Ivy has always been a popular character in large part because she mixes extreme beauty with a deadly intention.
4. The Scarecrow - Though Jonathan Crane is little more than a stick thin scarecrow running around Gotham City spreading fear to everyone he comes in contact with, he is still among the better Batman villains of all time. The reason? The Scarecrow actually has the power to break through the tough facade of the Batman and reduce him to a fearful mess. The Scarecrow has always been a nemesis that the Batman hates to face, and the fans of the comic love to see.
3. Catwoman - Slinky, sexy, Selina Kyle is not only one of the best Batman villains of all time, she has actually spent a good deal of time using her talents for good. Not only that, but she has also been very close with Batman himself. With that intimate knowledge and the powers and second sense of a cat, Kyle is a very dangerous character indeed. Having Halle Berry play you on the big screen does not hurt either.
2. Bane - Though Bane is little more than a thug now, he is one of the few Batman villains to actually fight the Bat and win. Bane completely whipped the Caped Crusader good a while back and put him on the shelf with a broken back. Having that kind of success and the power to pull down buildings will do that for a villain.
1. The Joker - As though you did not expect it, I put the Joker in a class all by himself. Of all the villains in the Batworld, the Joker is the one that best personifies pure evil. From top to bottom, the Joker is certifiably insane. No other villain even really comes close. The Joker even once killed Robin the Boy Wonder. What more could a villain accomplish short of offing the Batman himself?
There are certainly other Batman villains that could easily make this list such as the Riddler, Two Face, and Mr. Freeze to name a few, but these five were the best for me. I loved each and every comic and storyline that these Batman villains were in, and they are the five best of all time in my opinion. Feel free to leave your opinions in the comments below.
